Since I learned of the Taqueria Chingon owners' pedigree from Le Bouchon and NoMi and decided to experience the gourmet hipster tacos for myself, I have very much enjoyed many times one of their signature tacos, the duck carnitas, with savory duck meat, crunchy duck skin, duo of rich sweet and spicy sauces, and a few supremes of juicy orange and pile of fresh herbs, all atop a freshly made tortilla. Speaking of the fresh tortillas, the blue corn quesadilla is delicious especially when they get the exterior a bit crispy to contrast with the hot melty inside. What I have found a little disturbing is that when I have take out, the tortillas have always been soft and warm and tender. But the last 2 times when I dined on their patio, the tortillas were cold, stiff and a little tough. Very disappointing, not to mention on one of those visits I brought a first timer after I boasted to them that my favorite tacos in the City were from Taqueria Chingon, and then when the homemade tortillas seems far from being fresh I was really embarrassed and a little ashamed. The thick green salsa goes great with any flavor of taco. The vegetable tacos like artichoke and roasted squash always have a delectable texture combination, that as long as the tortilla is actually fresh and tender, makes a memorable taste sensation. Tres leches cake is yummy and well soaked with sauce and cajeta.

Duck and asada tacos were good. Duck carnitas had good flavor. The salsa was good. Shrimp taco was too salty. Al pastor was ok. Churros did not hold at all. Crumbled too easily. They only have seats outside.

Great place for a quick bite to eat! My tacos were ready in 5 minutes and were each hot. I loved that the asada was perfectly well cooked and each were a really good portion size for the price. You also get two sauces serviced with your meal. I especially loved what I think was an avocado cream sauce. The outside is a perfectly cute spot to sit at on a nice spring or summer day. I am looking forward to going back to try other dishes.

I tried the Taco Tuesday Special, which consists of an Al Pastor and Chorizo Taco, rice and beans, a tequila shot, and Modelo beer. It's almost $22.00 with tax. The staff is friendly and helpful with the menu items. There's no indoor seating, just an outdoor patio. The area is a good size, but the outdoor patio could use a good tile cleaning.

I've heard a lot of good things about this place. Some say these are some of the best tacos in the city. I've even heard that they are THE best. So I decided to finally give em a try. The tacos that I ended up ordering were the duck carnitas, morcilla, and the al pastor. They were all really good! Especially, the morcilla taco. But with taxes and tip the bill was $25.00. Now, I don't mind spending a lot of money if I'm buying some high quality food. But I thought this was too expensive for what are essentially just some tacos. Elevated tacos for sure, but just tacos. I hadn't eaten all day so I was still a little hungry, but I couldn't bring myself to buy anything else. So while I did enjoy the tacos, I think this place is too pricey. I'll go back if someone else is willing to pay the bill or if some reason I'm just really craving a morcilla taco.

We came here on the recommendation of a friend before heading out to see a comedy show at the Lincoln Lodge. Tacqueria Chingon is located right on Western and has a heated patio (dog-friendly too!), perfect for a group of three to grab a quick bite. The set-up is fast casual; you enter and order at the counter. Specials will be listed in a chalkboard by the register, and their standard menu was mounted on a huge display on the back wall. This spot was opened by the same folks at Le Bouchon and Obelix, so I came in knowing every flavor and detail would not be overlooked, down to the house made sauces on each table, the texture of their guacamole, and how the taste of a single taco will change with the addition of a freshly squeezed lime. As anticipated, the tacos were gourmet, delicious. I ordered 3 for dinner: 1) pescado 2) asada (cooked at a default medium rare) 3) duck carnitas My friend ordered chips and guacamole for the table. My meal rang up to be a little over $20 (3 tacos). If you want horchata, topo chico or another canned beverage plus guac, your tab will inch closer to $30+. The asada was a little more rare than your typical medium rare, so if that is gonna be an issue, I'd suggest getting your asada taco cooked medium or medium-well. I really enjoyed my meal here. It's perfect for a casual date, dinner before a show, or really, any occasion you'd like really solid tacos. They don't have booze here and they don't take reservations, but their food items are flavorful, uncomplicated, and you can order an horchata or Mexican Coke. A solid menu by chefs Marcos Ascensio and Oliver Poilevey!

I've been wanting to go Taqueria Chingón for a while, and I'm glad we came in the middle of the week because I hear the line can be out the door sometimes and there's limited seating, but tonight we walked right up to the counter. The Duck Carnitas was phenomenal. I'm not a fan of fruit on my tacos (that's why I never order Al Pastor) and the clementine pieces gave it a pleasant, sweet aftertaste after the initial spice kick in your mouth. The meat was tender and not greasy. Would never think to add mint to a taco, but I'm glad the chef thought of it. - 9.3/10 Most places don't have gluten free quesadillas, which makes me sad because I love cheese. But here the quesadillas are made with blue corn tortillas and light, refreshing Oaxaca cheese. We both got the plain one, and it's bland but in the best way possible. I preferred it paired with the green sauce over the red, but if you like smoky then you'll prefer the red. The green sauce tastes so fresh that I'm convinced they mashed that up fresh in the morning. - 8.5/10 We also got the campechano taco, you can skip it because there's better options. Hannah got the Al Pastor and said the meat marinade makes the taco. I typically prefer a white corn tortilla over a yellow corn, but in this the yellow corn tortilla for the tacos made the best base for these tacos. Word on the street is the churros are great, but unfortunately the gluten prevents me from ever knowing .
